Donald Trump’s policies are bad for the health of the American people. A lot of people are going to lose health care from cuts to rural hospitals, medical research, and public safety nets. Rolling back regulations that were set up to protect people from diseases, toxic chemicals, or other public health issues is going to create more health problems. This is not the way to make government more efficient.
Americans should keep a healthy debate going about how much the federal government should be involved in funding health care, safety nets, and medical research, and what level of regulation is best for society. But destroying these things without making any kind of a plan is just going to hurt people. And getting rid of programs that are set up to prevent health problems before they become worse doesn’t make any sense.
Losing Health Insurance
Because of Trump’s legislation and tax cuts, about 10 million Americans could lose their health insurance over the next ten years.

Hospital Closures
The reconciliation bill passed by the Republican-controlled Congress and signed into law by Donald Trump on July 4, 2025 cut Medicaid by an estimated $1.02 trillion. This could close down over 700 rural hospitals, with an estimate of 300 rural hospitals that might have to shut down immediately.
